Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering personalised learning programs for students with diverse needs, collaborating with parents and external agencies, and contributing to our dynamic curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Individualised Learning Plans: Create tailored educational programs to meet the unique needs of each student, focusing on their strengths and challenges.
  • Teach and Adapt Curriculum: Deliver core subjects like Literacy, Maths, and PSHE, adapting materials to suit students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with parents, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students’ skills and progress, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to School Life: Participate in school events, staff training, and community activities to foster a cohesive and supportive environment.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Relevant experience in special education is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • To be a resilient practitioner with the ability to meet challenges with patience and empathy.
    • Flexibility and creativity in adapting teaching methods.
    • Strong organisational skills for lesson planning and collaboration.

Barnstaple offers a wonderful blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Located in the heart of North Devon, it provides easy access to Exmoor National Park and the stunning coastline. The town itself is rich in heritage, with attractions like the historic Pannier Market, which has been hosting markets for over 1,000 years, and the Tarka Trail, perfect for cycling and walking. Hours per week:           7.5 per week, working Monday-Friday between 12 and 1.30pm

Weeks per annum:       38 weeks per year, term time only

Interview Date:             To be arranged

We are looking for Meal Time Assistants to support our students at Pathfield School between 12 noon and 1.30 each day to eat their dinner, learn how to play and socialise, access lunchtime clubs and to take care of their personal needs whilst promoting independence.

Whilst working within a team of dedicated staff you will be given the training to support your development.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This role requires a DBS disclosure.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
